Size Guide for Pakistani Dresses, Sherwani and Kurta
Use the charts below to choose a standard size or prepare custom measurements for your Shadi Dress order in the United Kingdom. Different designers and shops use different size labels: please compare the actual garment measurements rather than relying on the letter size you normally wear.
All figures are finished garment measurements in inches with centimetre equivalents. Some measurements in the women’s and kurta charts are flat half-width values, while sherwani chest and waist values are full measurements. Read the notes below each chart before you order.
Women’s Size Chart
This chart can be used for eligible stitched bridal dresses, gowns, maxis, frocks, lehenga cholis, shararas, ghararas and shalwar kameez. Final lengths and fit also depend on the selected silhouette.

How to read the women’s chart
Chest, waist, hips and shirt opening are flat half-width garment measurements. For an approximate full circumference, double these values. Shoulder, sleeve length and trouser length are full measurements and must not be doubled. Your body measurements are not the same as the measurements of a finished garment.
Sherwani Size Chart
Use the measurements below when choosing a standard groom sherwani size. The listed chest, waist and hip measurements are full, not half-width. If your proportions fall outside the chart, select Custom Size where offered.

Sherwani for boys
Children’s sherwanis, where offered, require the child’s own measurements. An adult size should not be selected using age alone.
Kurta and Shalwar Size Chart
For men’s kurta and shalwar sets, the chest and waist measurements below are flat half-width finished-garment values. Kurta length, sleeve length, collar and shalwar length are full measurements.

The kurta waist is measured approximately 6.5 inches below the armhole on the garment. Allow for the style and ease appropriate to your selected design.
Custom Size — Your Own Measurements
If standard sizes do not suit your body proportions or preferred fit, choose the Custom Size option where it is available for the product. Supply accurate figures and clearly identify them as body measurements or garment measurements.
Women’s measurements
- Full height without shoes and expected heel height.
- Shoulder, bust or chest, waist and hips.
- Shirt, gown, maxi or lehenga length as applicable.
- Sleeve length, bicep and sleeve opening.
- Shirt opening and trouser length/opening where required.
Men’s measurements
- Full height and preferred garment length.
- Shoulder, chest, waist and hip.
- Sleeve length and collar measurement.
- Kurta or sherwani length and shalwar length where relevant.
How to Take Accurate Measurements
Use a flexible dressmaking tape. Measure while standing naturally and, where possible, have a professional tailor or another person assist you. Keep the tape level and comfortably close to the body without pulling it too tight.
- Shoulder: from one shoulder tip to the other across your back.
- Bust or chest: around the fullest part, with the tape level.
- Waist: around your natural waistline.
- Hips: around the widest part.
- Sleeve: from the shoulder tip to the intended finishing point.
- Garment length: from the appropriate shoulder or neck point to the preferred hem.
Floor-length bridal dresses and footwear
If you are ordering a bridal gown, maxi or lehenga, provide your full barefoot height and planned heel height. Tell us whether you want the dress to meet the floor or allow some clearance, and discuss any embroidered hem or train before production.
Fit, Changes and Your Order
Tell us whether you prefer a fitted, regular or relaxed finish for your selected design. Do not add your own extra inches to body measurements without clarifying your intention. If your measurements change after ordering, contact us promptly; alteration options depend on the production stage.

Size Questions
Should I select my usual UK dress size?
Not automatically. Use our garment measurements, as brands and designs vary. Custom sizing may be more suitable if your measurements span several rows.
Can I send centimetres rather than inches?
Yes. Clearly state the units. The charts show inches alongside rounded centimetre conversions.
Do the women’s bust and waist figures need doubling?
Yes. These are flat half-width garment measurements; double them for the approximate circumference.
Are sherwani sizes measured the same way?
No. The sherwani chest, waist and hip values shown are full measurements and should not be doubled.
Can I change my measurements after ordering?
Please contact us immediately. Whether changes are feasible depends on how far your order has progressed.
Can I ask for a completed garment measurement check before dispatch?
